About the Role
Confidential Client is hiring an Employment Specialist to join its CareerAbility employment services team. The Employment Specialist is a lead job coach who supports adults with disabilities to obtain and retain meaningful, competitive employment through customized job development, on‑the‑job coaching, employer relationship building, and outcome-focused documentation.

Salary: $23.10 per hour
Employment type: Full-time (40 hours/week) — schedule includes some evenings; shifts typically 9am–5pm, 10am–6pm, or 12pm–8:30pm on some days.
Location: Westville, CT (on-site and community-based supports)
What You’ll Do
- Provide job coaching, on-the-job training, and stabilization supports one-on-one and in small groups to help individuals meet vocational goals and maintain employment.
- Teach and model workplace skills, task steps, and social expectations; perform task analyses and create individualized supports.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with employers to secure and sustain job placements and to advocate for necessary accommodations.
- Coordinate transportation supports and provide travel training; provide transportation when needed.
- Complete timely documentation: progress reports, vocational notes, SETWorks entries, and billing.
- Collaborate with Career Transition Specialists and other team members; participate in planning and progress meetings.
- Support site development, public relations, and training of junior job coaches when assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support client outcomes and program goals.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, ABA, Human Services, or related field, and/or 2+ years of relevant job coaching or industry experience.
- Strong communication and writing skills; ability to teach, coach, and provide empathetic supports.
- Knowledge of adults with developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorders and experience in employment supports preferred (CESP or similar credential desirable).
- Proficiency with Word, Excel and web-based applications; attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and daily use of an insured, reliable personal vehicle (Public Service License (PSL) preferred or ability to obtain one).
- Commitment to confidentiality, professional ethics, and client-centered practices.
Preferred
- Endorsement by ACRE in Customized Employment or active credential in customized employment.
- Familiarity with Employment First principles, APSE, and state employer incentive programs.
