What You’ll Do

This Confidential Client is hiring an Embedded Software Test Engineer to develop and run Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL) validation for embedded control systems and ECUs. You will work onsite at the client’s engineering and manufacturing facility and join cross‑functional teams to improve validation coverage, automation, and release readiness.

  • Develop, execute, and document HIL validation strategies, test plans, and procedures for embedded control systems and vehicle‑level features.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot HIL test environments (dSPACE, Vector, simulation platforms), integrating plant models, networks, and automation frameworks.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts, validation tools, and data acquisition solutions to increase repeatability and coverage.
  • Analyze test results, identify software/system defects, perform root‑cause investigations, and coordinate corrective actions with engineering teams.
  • Validate embedded software interactions with sensors, actuators, communication networks, and subsystems under normal, boundary, and fault conditions.
  • Support V&V across the product lifecycle: requirements reviews, test case development, traceability, regression testing, and release readiness.
  • Produce clear validation reports, test summaries, and technical documentation for stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For (Requirements)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of software development or testing experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self‑motivated, quick learner with strong problem‑solving instincts.
  • Good organizational and time‑management skills; able to prioritize and act to resolve issues.
  • Comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Visa sponsorship is NOT available for this position.

Desired / Preferred Skills

  • Hands‑on experience with dSPACE HIL systems, ECU validation, and embedded controls testing.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and model‑based development workflows.
  • Experience with Python for test automation, scripting, and data analysis.
  • Solid programming experience in C or C++.
  • Familiarity with Vector tools, CAN/J1939, UDS diagnostics, and hardware troubleshooting/debugging.
  • Ability to read schematics and component data sheets.
  • Understanding of the full software development lifecycle and release processes.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and data acquisition systems.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Range: $75,000 - $115,000 per year (commensurate with experience).
