What You’ll Do
Confidential client is looking for a hands-on Embedded Software Engineer to develop and support an industry-leading mobile ad-hoc networking (MANET) system. You’ll work on embedded Linux platforms and contribute to system-level software that solves hard networking and security problems.
- Use C/C++ to architect, develop, and maintain software for embedded Linux hardware platforms
- Develop and enhance software running on the Wave Relay® network (network stack, backend services, cryptographic/security features, Java apps, and other low-level components)
- Implement and maintain REST/WS API integrations and UNIX socket networking code
- Write and maintain unit tests; apply dependency injection and test-driven development practices
- Participate in code reviews and collaborate across engineering and product teams to design robust solutions
- Support test, evaluation, and deployments — occasional travel to test locations, military facilities, and customer sites may be required
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years developing software in C/C++
- Experience with Java and JavaScript
- Familiarity with REST and WS APIs and UNIX socket-based networking
- Experience writing unit tests and using dependency injection
- Must have a U.S. security clearance or the ability to obtain one
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience with Linux kernel development
- Experience developing cryptographic software in C/C++
- Proficiency with UNIX shell scripting and SQL databases
- Experience developing for constrained or embedded hardware platforms
- Background designing or debugging network protocols and stacks
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $133,000 – $160,000 per year (range reflects experience and education)

Location & Travel
- Primary location: New York, NY (local candidates preferred)
- Role is based on-site with some travel required to support testing and deployments (including customer and government/military sites)
