Role Overview
Confidential client is hiring entry-level Embedded Software Engineers (New Grad, class of 2027) to develop production embedded software for next-generation vehicle platforms. You'll work on low-level communications, real-time systems, and hardware bring-up in a fast-moving engineering environment.
What You’ll Do
- Integrate vendor hardware and sensors into a common software framework and ensure correct low-level communication (CAN, LIN, I2C, SPI, UART, etc.)
- Implement RTOS-based applications and middleware components required by the product
- Architect and write high-quality, maintainable C (and C++) code for real-time embedded environments, including safety-relevant systems
- Support hardware bring-up, perform low-level board and SoC debugging, and resolve system-level issues
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to productionize software on new devices and manage lifecycle/maintenance processes
Basic Qualifications
- BS/BA, MS, or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field — graduating by December 2026 or Summer 2027
- Strong background in embedded software development using C/C++ (assembly experience a plus)
- Experience or demonstrated ability to perform low-level hardware debugging to validate full-system operation
- Familiarity with real-time constraints and embedded system design
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with RTOS and middleware
- Prior exposure to safety-critical systems or robotic real-time constraints
- Self-starter mentality and ability to learn new technical tools quickly
- Experience working in fast-paced, cross-disciplinary engineering teams
Work Location & Compensation
- Location: Sunnyvale, CA — this role is expected to be primarily in-office (confidential client’s Sunnyvale office). Occasional flexibility may be permitted at the employer’s discretion.
- Compensation Range (provided by employer): $123,000 - $168,000 per year
