Role Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer (Entry level) to join an engineering team in Mossville, IL. You will design, develop, test, and deploy embedded software using modern C++ on embedded Linux platforms, support HIL testing and system validation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, test, and deliver embedded software from requirements through production deployment.
• Implement and maintain code in modern C++ within embedded Linux environments.
• Troubleshoot and debug software and system-level issues; use hardware schematics and datasheets to diagnose problems.
• Support Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing and other validation activities.
• Improve software efficiency, stability, reliability, and scalability.
• Create scripts and small tools (Python) to automate testing, debugging, and data collection.
• Use version control and CI/CD tools (Git, Azure DevOps) and follow established workflows.
• Participate in requirements analysis, design reviews, and Agile sprint activities.
• Work with cross-functional and global teams to deliver integrated solutions and continuous improvements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of relevant embedded software development experience (relevant internships may be considered).
• Strong programming skills in C++ (modern C++).
• Hands-on experience with Linux development environments and toolchains.
• Familiarity with Git and typical software development workflows.
• Ability to read and interpret hardware schematics and component datasheets.
• Ability to troubleshoot embedded software and system-level issues.
• Basic understanding of the full software development lifecycle.

Nice-to-Have / Preferred

• Experience with HIL testing frameworks and embedded system validation.
• Prior exposure to Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD systems.
• Familiarity with Agile development practices in distributed teams.
• Experience developing Python scripts for test automation and tooling.
• Knowledge of device drivers, board bring-up, or low-level hardware interfaces.

Compensation

• Base pay range: $90,000 – $92,500 per year (range provided by Confidential Client; your actual pay will be based on skills and experience).

• Onsite — Mossville, IL (position requires ability to work in the specified location).
