What You’ll Do
This role is for an Embedded Software Engineer — Lead on a contract basis supporting Confidential Client in Cedar Rapids, IA. You will join cross‑discipline product teams and drive software design, implementation, integration, verification, and certification activities for safety‑critical embedded products.
- Participate on collaborative, integrated product teams, often using agile development practices
- Lead full product lifecycle work: architecture, design, implementation, integration, test, and delivery
- Develop embedded software components using C++ and Ada95 where required
- Implement and support CI/CD and DevOps workflows for embedded builds and testing
- Work with requirements management tools (JAMA, Polarion) to trace requirements through design and test
- Design and debug at the processor/board level (embedded programming, hardware‑software integration)
- Support certification activities following DO‑178 guidelines for safety‑critical systems
- Coordinate across technical project managers, systems engineers, product managers and other engineers
- Continuously improve processes, share knowledge, and learn new languages and technologies quickly
What We’re Looking For
- Proven embedded software experience, including hands‑on C++ and Ada95 development
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices applied to embedded systems
- Familiarity with requirements management (JAMA, Polarion) and traceability practices
- Knowledge of processor/board architecture and embedded system integration
- Experience or working knowledge of DO‑178 certification and safety‑critical development practices
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary teams
- Self‑starter mentality with a focus on continuous improvement and learning
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Nice to Have
- Prior work on safety‑critical aerospace, defense, or regulated embedded products
- Experience with automated unit/integration testing frameworks for embedded systems
- Background in model‑based development or formal verification techniques
