Role Overview
We are working with a confidential client seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join an engineering team in Irving, TX. This full-time, on-site role focuses on developing embedded C++ systems for robotics, autonomous systems, and inertial navigation. You will design, implement, validate, and optimize state estimation and localization software that moves concepts from prototype to production.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain embedded software primarily in C++ for real-time systems
- Implement and optimize filtering and estimation algorithms (Kalman Filter, EKF, Error-State KF)
- Develop Python tools and automation for testing, data analysis, and validation
- Contribute to localization and SLAM solutions including graph optimization and state estimation
- Integrate and work with robotics frameworks such as ROS
- Analyze requirements, system designs, and product development documentation
- Diagnose and resolve complex software issues using logs, traces, and diagnostic data
- Apply 3D geometry, linear algebra, coordinate transformations, and statistical error modeling
- Support development involving inertial navigation, vehicle dynamics, and motion modeling
- Participate across the SDLC from requirements and design through implementation, testing, integration, and deployment
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to transition prototypes into production
- Document technical decisions, troubleshooting procedures, and engineering trade-offs
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional embedded software engineering experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field
- Strong proficiency in C++
- Strong working knowledge of Python for scripting, testing, and tooling
- Experience with software debugging, profiling, and troubleshooting embedded systems
- Knowledge of inertial measurement technology and state estimation techniques
- Familiarity with ROS or similar robotics middleware
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, on-site engineering environment in Irving, TX
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing SLAM, graph optimization, or advanced localization algorithms
- Background with guidance, navigation, and control systems or vehicle dynamics
- Familiarity with real-time OS or low-level hardware interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART)
- Experience moving algorithms from research/prototype to production software
- Advanced degree in robotics, controls, or related discipline
