What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer II to design and implement safe, robust, and extensible firmware that forms the backbone of the aircraft flight control system. You will work on sensor integration, control software, communications, and navigation; support testing and validation; and participate in flight testing.

  • Develop embedded software/firmware for sensors, control systems, communications, and navigation
  • Improve test automation, software quality, data collection, analysis, and validation
  • Debug production issues, determine root cause, and implement timely fixes
  • Support and assist in flight testing locally and at remote sites
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, controls, test engineering) to deliver reliable systems

What We’re Looking For

  • B.S. in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar
  • 2+ years of professional experience in embedded software or firmware development
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++; experience with Python for tooling or testing is a plus
  • Experience with ARM microcontrollers and low-level embedded development
  • Familiarity with real-time systems, Linux development, and low-level communication protocols (CAN, SPI, I2C, UART)
  • Hands-on experience via employment, academic projects, student teams, or internships
  • Understanding of control systems, robotics, and sensor integration

Nice to Have

  • Experience with embedded security
  • Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
  • Experience working on flight control or safety-critical systems

Compensation & Location

  • Salary range: $132,000 - $153,000 a year
  • Employment type: Full-time
  • Work location: Onsite at the Confidential Client HQ in Palo Alto, CA — applicants must be eligible to work in the United States and able to work onsite.
