About the Role

Confidential Client is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer I - Product Development to join a product development team focused on embedded control and test systems for industrial chiller products. This early-career engineering role centers on testing, validation, and automation of embedded software and hardware interfaces. The role is based in New Freedom, PA and requires candidates to be a U.S. citizen or a U.S. permanent resident (no sponsorship).

What You’ll Do

You will help ensure product quality and reliability by owning test design and execution for embedded systems. Typical responsibilities include:

• Lead the development and execution of test plans and test cases for embedded firmware.
• Design, implement, and maintain automated and manual test frameworks and scripts.
• Integrate hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and bench-level testing to validate software/hardware interactions.
• Collaborate with software, firmware, and hardware engineers to improve testability and product quality.
• Review requirements and designs to identify risks and test objectives early in the development lifecycle.
• Triage, document, and track defects; support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Contribute to process improvements and help adopt new testing tools and methodologies.

How You’ll Do It

You’ll use a mix of software and hardware test tools and practices:

• Develop automated test scripts (Python, C/C++, or similar) and test harnesses.
• Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, and other bench tools for hardware debug.
• Build and extend test frameworks to support CI and repeatable regression testing.
• Collaborate in cross-functional teams, participate in design reviews, and mentor less-experienced engineers.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in software development and testing.
• At least 1 year of hands-on manual and/or automated testing experience.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and/or Python (or similar languages).
• Familiarity with hardware test and debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG).
• Experience in testing embedded systems and developing test frameworks.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card). Sponsorship is not available.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing and maintaining automated testing solutions and CI-driven test suites.
• Prior exposure to hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing or system-level integration testing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience with root-cause analysis.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $65,000 - $80,000 per year (final offer based on education, experience, skills, and internal equity).
