What You’ll Do
Confidential Client seeks an Embedded Software Engineer (Avionics Electrical) to join an onsite engineering team in Greensboro, NC. In this role you will support aircraft modifications and sustainment by designing and maintaining embedded software, developing diagnostic tools, analyzing aircraft data, and driving root-cause investigations and reliability improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support aircraft modifications and electrical design changes tied to embedded software updates
- Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software and diagnostic tools for avionics systems
- Create and sustain aircraft configuration and engineering data (CMF and related records)
- Perform aircraft data processing and analysis to identify faults, trends, and improvement opportunities
- Lead advanced troubleshooting and root cause corrective action (RCCA) for system/component failures
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, suppliers, and maintenance groups to resolve issues
- Contribute to upgrade development and sustaining engineering activities based on analysis and findings
- Maintain version control and documentation for software and diagnostic assets
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- 7+ years of relevant experience in embedded software engineering, avionics, or electrical systems engineering
- Demonstrated coding/programming skills and experience with software development, testing, and debugging
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; experience with root cause analysis on complex systems
- Comfortable working onsite with cross-functional teams in Greensboro, NC
Preferred Technical Skills
- C / C++ programming for embedded systems
- Embedded Linux and embedded systems development experience
- Experience building aircraft diagnostic tools and data-management utilities
- Familiarity with MATLAB or similar engineering/analysis tools
- Understanding of aircraft systems, avionics, and airworthiness considerations
- Experience with version control tools (Git, SVN, TFS) and software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Data analysis and troubleshooting techniques applied to aircraft telemetry/logging
