Embedded Software Engineer, Onsite
The Embedded Software Engineer at Confidential Client in El Segundo, CA, is responsible for supporting all phases of the software development life cycle for military and commercial real-time embedded systems. This role involves designing, developing, integrating, and testing software solutions in collaboration with systems engineers, with a focus on secure, high-quality software delivery in an on-site environment requiring active U.S. government security clearance.

What You’ll Do
This on-site role supports development and integration of embedded, real-time software for mission-critical systems. You will be a member of a multi-disciplined engineering team working across the full software development lifecycle.
- Support new and legacy military and commercial programs from concept and requirements through design, development, integration, test, and maintenance.
- Develop, test, and integrate real-time software components primarily written in C++ (or closely related languages).
- Troubleshoot and provide creative technical solutions for complex system and software integration challenges.
- Collaborate closely with Systems Engineers and cross-functional teams to design solutions that meet end-user and operational needs.
- Work with lab hardware, test benches, and simulators during integration and verification.
- Participate in occasional business-related travel as required.
Qualifications (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) AND a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Experience developing, testing, and integrating real-time software applications in C++ or similar languages.
- Proficiency with scripting languages (Shell, Perl, Python) for test automation and tooling.
- Active and transferable U.S. Government Secret security clearance required prior to start date.
- U.S. citizenship required (eligibility for security clearance).
Preferred Qualifications
- Development experience on Linux, VxWorks, or other Real-Time Operating Systems.
- Hands-on experience with lab environments, test benches, and hardware integration.
- Familiarity navigating complex systems and established codebases quickly.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum product development practices.
- Experience implementing and using DevSecOps pipelines: static code analysis, automated build, automated test, and CI/CD with test-driven development practices.
- Practical experience using Git and GitLab for version control and repository management.
