About the Role

Confidential Client is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer for a contract-to-hire, W2-only position based out of Dallas, TX (fully remote/telecommute). This role focuses on building and scaling the engineering tools, automation, and workflows that support embedded Linux firmware development — with a clear emphasis on integrating AI-assisted engineering tools and agent-driven workflows that increase software quality and team velocity.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain engineering tools and infrastructure for embedded Linux development.
• Build and optimize automated firmware build, test, packaging, provisioning, flashing, recovery, and release pipelines.
• Develop hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and board-farm automation for firmware validation and regression testing.
• Integrate static analysis, automated testing, and quality gates into the software development lifecycle.
• Adopt and operationalize AI-assisted engineering workflows (agent-driven tooling and autonomous engineering processes) to measurably improve software quality and engineering velocity.
• Partner with firmware, hardware, and QA engineers to solve complex technical challenges and continuously improve processes.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Professional experience developing embedded software using Linux, C++, and Python.
• Demonstrated experience delivering engineering tooling and automation for firmware build/test/release flows.
• Experience with HIL or board-farm automation, and integrating automated testing and static analysis into CI/CD.
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted engineering tools or building agent-driven developer workflows that improve throughput and quality.
• Strong problem-solving skills, collaboration across firmware/hardware/QA teams, and attention to engineering best practices.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S., able to work on a W2 basis (no sponsorship), and willing to submit to background and drug screening.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay range: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour (contract-to-hire).
• This is a contract-to-hire W2 position; eligibility requirements apply for benefits.
