What You’ll Do

Confidential Client builds advanced RF sensing systems used in defense and commercial airspace awareness. As an Embedded Software Engineer on this team you will develop high-performance embedded sensor software that detects and tracks airborne targets, processes large data streams reliably, and integrates with cloud and networked components.

• Design and implement software components to detect and track new target types
• Optimize data pipelines for high throughput and deterministic performance
• Implement health/performance monitoring and autonomous fault recovery
• Integrate embedded systems with cloud and network services (telemetry, diagnostics)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into architectures
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and technical documentation
• Test and validate code to meet quality, reliability, and safety expectations
• Contribute as an individual contributor to improve code performance and maintainability

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Proficiency with Python for development, testing, and tools
• Experience developing and deploying software on Linux platforms (embedded Linux experience preferred)
• Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with or willingness to learn C++ for embedded systems
• Familiarity with radar systems, RF/communication systems, or signal processing concepts
• Background in high-throughput, real-time data processing on constrained platforms
• Experience with automated testing, CI pipelines, and performance profiling

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $85,000 — $90,000 per year (salary range provided by Confidential Client; final offer will consider experience, skills, and other relevant factors)

Location & Work Model

This role is primarily onsite in City of Syracuse, NY, with some flexibility to work remotely when the role and schedule allow. The successful candidate will regularly collaborate with onsite engineers and should be able to commute to the Syracuse facility as required.

Due to the nature of the technology and contract requirements, only U.S. citizens can be considered for this position. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance if required for the role.
