What You’ll Do
This contract role contributes to expanding Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) verification and validation capacity for embedded control systems. You will design, build, and run validation tests and automation to ensure product commitments are met.
- Develop, execute, and maintain HIL/SIL validation tests for embedded control software using dSPACE, MATLAB/Simulink, and automation tools.
- Focus split: ~40% HIL/SIL test development & execution, ~30% test automation and scripting, ~20% issue investigation/debugging, ~10% collaboration, reviews, and planning.
- Create and maintain test automation frameworks (Python, gtest/C) for repeatable regression runs.
- Integrate and validate ECUs at the system level; work with Vector tools (CANoe/CANalyzer) and CAN/J1939 protocols.
- Perform root-cause analysis, defect triage, and technical reviews with software, controls, and systems teams.
- Set up HIL bench hardware, read electrical schematics, perform fault injection, and produce validation reports.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in embedded software engineering or validation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with HIL/SIL validation and test development.
- Proficiency with the dSPACE toolchain and MATLAB/Simulink.
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Python; experience with gtest and C-based test automation is a plus).
- Experience with CAN/J1939, Vector tools (CANoe/CANalyzer), and ECU/system integration.
- Familiarity with version control, software development lifecycle, and test automation framework development.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and in cross-functional teams.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Prior experience in machinery, automotive, or heavy-equipment embedded systems.
- Practical knowledge of diagnostics, fault injection methodologies, and validation reporting tools.
- Experience with continuous integration for embedded test systems.
