What You’ll Do
You’ll join a high-performance engineering team focused on extremely low-latency systems where software performance materially affects the business.
- Design and develop low-latency, high-throughput trading systems and core infrastructure
- Optimize C++ applications for latency, throughput, reliability, and determinism
- Diagnose and remove performance bottlenecks across CPU, memory, networking, and system architecture
- Work closely with hardware engineers and integrate with specialized hardware (FPGA/ASIC) where applicable
- Collaborate with traders and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver production-ready systems
- Own projects end-to-end — design, implement, deploy, and continually optimize in production
What We’re Looking For
Minimum qualifications (required):
- 2+ years professional experience developing modern C++ applications
- Strong knowledge of performance-sensitive or real-time systems
- Experience with Linux, multithreading/concurrency, networking, and memory management
- Solid understanding of CPU architecture and low-level performance characteristics
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
Nice-to-haves (not required but helpful):
- Experience working with software that interfaces closely with hardware (drivers, firmware, or hardware APIs)
- Exposure to FPGA/ASIC-based systems or low-level hardware acceleration
- Prior experience in low-latency trading or other performance-critical environments
Details
- Employment type: Full-time
- Seniority level: Associate
- Location: Chicago, IL (on-site / hybrid per client needs)
- Industry: Capital Markets
- Base pay range: $300,000 — $500,000 per year (range provided by the client; actual pay will depend on skills and experience)
- Education: BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
- Experience: 2+ years modern C++ development
Why This Role
This role suits systems-focused engineers who enjoy digging into C++ performance, systems internals, hardware interaction, and latency optimization. You’ll have substantial ownership of core systems that are central to the business and work alongside engineers and traders in a technically driven environment.
