What You’ll Do

This is a hands-on embedded software engineering role supporting product development for a Confidential Client based in California, CA. You will design, implement, test, and maintain firmware and embedded software that interfaces with hardware, sensors, and peripherals.

  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware in C/C++ for microcontrollers and embedded processors
  • Implement and maintain device drivers and low-level firmware for UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, Ethernet, and other interfaces
  • Integrate software with hardware components and work closely with electrical/hardware engineers
  • Develop on RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr) and/or Embedded Linux platforms; optimize for memory, timing, and reliability
  • Debug hardware-software integration using JTAG/SWD, GDB, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
  • Write and run unit, integration, and system tests; participate in code reviews and maintain CI workflows
  • Use Git-based version control and standard build tools to manage source and releases
  • Analyze and optimize performance, power consumption, and timing behavior for production devices

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or related field
  • 0–5 years experience in embedded software or firmware development
  • Strong proficiency in C and C++
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, memory management, and pointers
  • Familiarity with microcontrollers, embedded systems architecture, and hardware interfaces
  • Practical experience with serial and field-bus communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, Ethernet)
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. for a California-based position (Confidential Client does not sponsor at this stage unless explicitly stated in job postings)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ARM Cortex-M/Cortex-A architectures
  • Experience with RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr) and Embedded Linux
  • Device driver development and board bring-up experience
  • Familiarity with CAN/CAN-FD, BLE, USB, Ethernet, or wireless stacks
  • Scripting skills (Python) for test automation and tooling
  • Hands-on experience with JTAG/SWD, GDB, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
  • Experience with Git workflows, CI/CD for firmware
  • Background in automotive, IoT, robotics, medical devices, industrial automation, or consumer electronics products
