What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer 2 (Avionics) to design, develop, and deliver embedded flight‑deck software in Chandler, AZ. This is a hands‑on engineering role with frequent customer interaction (OEMs), integration work, and cross‑functional coordination to meet engineering, flight‑test, and production schedules.
- Create and implement software designs for new flight‑deck features using C, C++, Python or similar languages
- Use configuration management, automated build systems, debuggers, emulators and simulators to produce shipping software
- Integrate software components and manage deliverables for OEM partners
- Perform technical root‑cause analysis and recommend corrective actions for software issues
- Participate in and provide constructive feedback during peer code reviews
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to estimating and planning for software projects
- Serve as a technical point of contact on derivative or airframe‑specific software efforts
- Coordinate cross‑functionally with systems engineering, testing, human factors, flight operations and program coordination teams
- Contribute to technical research and propose improvements to development processes
- Support customer engagements by understanding requirements, communicating status proactively, and managing expectations with OEM partners
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer/Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering, Math, Physics, or a related field — OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 1 year of relevant professional experience (or equivalent)
- Demonstrated experience developing moderately complex embedded software in C, C++ and/or Python
- Strong working knowledge of configuration management, build processes, debuggers, emulators, simulators and logic analyzers
- Strong problem‑solving skills and experience performing technical root cause analysis
- Good written and verbal communication skills for customer‑facing interactions
- Strong academic record (cumulative GPA ≥ 3.0 as a general guideline)
Preferred Qualifications
- Aviation industry experience or a pilot license is strongly preferred
- Defense or military aviation background is a plus
- Experience working directly with OEMs and managing customer expectations
- Familiarity with safety‑critical software development practices and flight‑deck system integration
Location & Work Authorization
- This position is based in Chandler, AZ (onsite at the corporate location). Occasional travel to customers and flight test activities may be required.
