What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking an Embedded Security Software Engineer I to join a Secure Product Assurance / Sensors Space and Air Software team in El Segundo, CA. You will design, implement, integrate, and test real-time embedded software with a strong focus on secure software solutions for defense systems.

  • Work across the full software development life cycle: requirements, design, implementation, integration, verification, and documentation.
  • Design, code, unit test, and integrate real-time embedded software components.
  • Implement secure software concepts (secure boot, authentication/authorization design patterns, and other embedded security controls).
  • Support software/hardware integration and troubleshooting on embedded platforms.
  • Participate in peer reviews, code inspections, and technical tradeoffs with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Follow established SW development processes to preserve product integrity, quality, and schedule.

Qualifications (Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited institution (degree must be obtained by start date).
  • Experience developing and debugging software in C, C++, or comparable object‑oriented languages.
  • Experience with scripting (Python, Perl, or similar) for automation and test.
  • Real-time embedded software development experience (RTOS or bare-metal).
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience working in a team-based software development environment with clear communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Linux (kernel or device driver experience).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, Git/GitLab.
  • Experience developing low-level device drivers or RTOS applications.
  • Hardware/software integration experience; interfacing with FPGAs.
  • Knowledge of inter-processor communication, ARM architecture, and secure boot concepts.
  • Prior experience with embedded software security or DoD/defense programs.

Clearance & Work Authorization

  • This role requires eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a clearance. Applicants must be able to comply with all clearance and national security requirements.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range (good faith estimate): 62,900 USD – 119,700 USD per year. Final offer depends on experience, location, credentials, and job-related factors.
  • Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, paid time off, parental leave, and other programs. Specific benefits depend on business unit and role.
  • Relocation eligibility may apply.

Location & Work Type

  • Onsite — El Segundo, CA campus.
