What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join their engineering team in Marlborough, MA. You will design, build, and optimize embedded software for high-performance communications products used globally, working closely with hardware, systems, and test engineers.
- Design, develop, and implement embedded software using Rust and C/C++
- Build and optimize software running on Linux-based embedded systems
- Contribute to development of high-performance, reliable communications systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams through the product lifecycle (requirements, integration, verification, deployment)
- Participate in code reviews, debugging, and performance tuning
- Support system integration, automated testing, and release activities
What We’re Looking For (Required)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Strong expertise developing embedded software in C and C++
- Hands-on Rust programming experience
- Practical experience with Linux in embedded environments
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP and related networking protocols
- Solid understanding of software design patterns, architecture, and best practices for maintainable, scalable systems
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS)
- Experience with cross-compilation toolchains and build systems (CMake, Yocto, Buildroot)
- Familiarity with hardware bring-up, device drivers, or board support packages
- Exposure to automated testing frameworks and CI/CD for embedded systems
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $160,000 — $220,000 per year (listed range reflects Confidential Client’s good-faith estimate at posting; actual pay will be based on factors such as experience, skills, and location)
