Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring for Associate Electronics Engineer / Electronics Engineer to join an optics, lasers & sensors team working on EO/IR sensors, optical communications terminals, laser & beam control systems, photonics and related electro‑optical payloads. This is an on-site, full‑time engineering role in Manhattan Beach, CA. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance are required.


What you’ll do

  • Design, model, analyze and test optical and electro‑optical systems and components (sensors, lasers, fiber‑optics, telecom products).
  • Develop component specifications, tolerances, simulations and test procedures for electro‑optical subsystems.
  • Conduct R&D on physical and geometric optics, laser characteristics and broadband optical sources.
  • Apply optical system modeling to meet performance, cost and producibility targets using design‑to‑cost and six‑sigma approaches.
  • Support system integration, verification, and lab/field test activities; document results and recommendations.

Basic qualifications

Associate Electronics Engineer (entry-level)

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Physics, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related).
  • U.S. citizenship required and ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.
  • Able to work on-site in Manhattan Beach, CA.

Electronics Engineer (mid-level)

  • Master’s degree in a STEM field (or equivalent experience) preferred per posting.
  • U.S. citizenship required and ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.
  • Able to work on-site in Manhattan Beach, CA.

Preferred qualifications

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher (for early‑career roles as noted).
  • Hands‑on lab experience with optical test equipment, lasers, detectors, fiber optics, or optical design software.
  • Coursework or experience in optics/photonic systems, optical modeling, or electro‑optical systems testing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in cross‑functional engineering teams.

Compensation & benefits

  • Salary ranges (posted by the client):
    • Associate Electronics Engineer: $76,200 — $114,400 per year
    • Electronics Engineer: $91,800 — $137,600 per year
  • Relocation assistance may be available.
  • Benefits vary by client/employment package and typically include medical, dental, retirement plans and professional development opportunities.

Location, travel & clearance

  • Work location: Manhattan Beach, CA (on site).
  • Typical travel: ~10% (as noted by the client).
  • Clearance: Candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to obtain a U.S. government security clearance; some programs may require Special Access Program eligibility.
