Role Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Electronic Systems Engineer – Software to contribute to product software development for connected products. This role is designed for early-career engineers who will work across software, cloud, validation, and product teams to deliver verified software features used in customer applications.


What You’ll Do

  • Investigate product software issues, determine root cause, recommend corrective actions, and own problem resolution and documentation.
  • Develop, implement, test, and release embedded and product software components using standard software engineering practices.
  • Participate in stakeholder requirement analysis, translate stakeholder needs into verifiable system and subsystem requirements.
  • Define interfaces, decomposed requirements, and technical profiles for connected features.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (software, cloud, validation, product management, and architecture) to align designs, verification plans, and delivery timelines.
  • Create and support verification and validation strategies, DVP&R artifacts, and pre-release checks to ensure functional and performance expectations are met.
  • Use systems thinking to plan scope, interfaces, and lifecycle considerations for features and platforms.
  • Contribute to the improvement of development processes and tools (code editors, integration tools, static analyzers, compilers, HIL test systems).
  • Coordinate work with technicians or temporary student employees when needed and support team goals.

Required Skills, Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a STEM field (required). Master’s degree may be required for some roles.
  • Entry-level / early-career: within ~2 years of completing highest degree, or equivalent experience (intern/co-op/early professional experience).
  • Experience developing and managing stakeholder, system, and subsystem requirements; familiarity with requirements traceability.
  • Experience or coursework with embedded software, cloud-connected systems, telematics, IoT, or vehicle electronics.
  • Understanding of systems integration, interface management, and verification & validation processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to lead technical discussions and influence cross-functional groups.
  • Proficient with common productivity tools (MS Office). Familiarity with requirements/lifecycle tools (Jira, Polarion, Windchill RV&S, etc.) is beneficial.

Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

  • Experience with connected vehicle technologies, telematics, OTA/FOTA updates, diagnostics, CAN / J1939 communication stacks.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management and systems engineering tools (Windchill RV&S, Polarion, Jira).
  • Hands-on exposure to HIL or other integration/validation test tools.
  • Experience applying statistical methods, design of experiments, or simulation/modeling to product decisions.

Compensation & Logistics

  • Employment type: Entry-level, Full-Time (Exempt)
  • Start date: May 2027
  • Work location: On-site with flexibility (Columbus, IN area)
  • Salary range: $77,691 – $100,909 per year
  • Relocation: Relocation assistance available (per client policy)
