Role Summary

Confidential Client is seeking an Electromagnetic Effects Test Engineer with hands-on EMC/EMI testing experience for automotive and satellite applications. You will join a fast-paced Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) team to verify electrical hardware performance at board, unit, subsystem and system levels across challenging electromagnetic environments. This role requires test lab operation, EMC analysis, troubleshooting, and collaboration with design, manufacturing, integration, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Support development and formal qualification/certification testing for automotive EMC to standards such as CISPR 25 and ISO 11452.
• Ensure designs meet established EMI/EMC and radio requirements.
• Maintain and operate EMC test facilities, including chambers and conducted EMC assets for pre‑compliance and certification testing.
• Develop and maintain calibration procedures for lab equipment.
• Create test plans and clear, complete test reports against applicable standards.
• Troubleshoot EMI/EMC failures from board to system level and drive corrective actions.
• Perform electromagnetic compatibility analysis and design guidance (grounding, bonding, shielding, isolation, emissions & susceptibility).
• Operate, automate and script tests for EMI, RF, and electronics test equipment.
• Teach and interface with multidisciplinary teams to set and verify EMC requirements.
• Independently verify and document test results with strong attention to detail.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, or related engineering discipline.
• 1+ years of hardware-focused test engineering experience (internships and relevant project experience qualify).

Preferred Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of E3/EMC work experience including EMI/EMC and RF requirements, analysis, design, and testing.
• Practical experience with CISPR 25, FCC Part 15, MIL‑STD‑461, DO‑160 or similar standards.
• EMC lab experience (maintenance, calibration and lab management).
• Hands-on EMC testing experience (radiated/conducted emissions & susceptibility).
• Test automation experience (Python or equivalent); familiarity with TILE! or similar tools.
• Experience reading/using circuit schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, wiring/cable harness diagrams and CAD drawings.
• Circuit analysis experience with SPICE or equivalent tools.
• Experience supporting production/flight or high‑reliability hardware in fast-paced environments.
• Familiarity with phased-array antenna fundamentals is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to train others.

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted.
• Extended hours and occasional weekend work may be required to support mission-critical milestones.
• Must be able to travel for short trips as needed.
• Candidates should be prepared to work in a secured/controlled environment; where applicable, certain roles may require export-control compliance (e.g., ITAR) or site-specific clearances.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay ranges (base salary):

• Level 1: $105,000 — $140,000 per year
• Level 2: $120,000 — $170,000 per year

Actual pay will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and level. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may receive other compensation components (equity, bonuses), and access to benefits such as medical, dental, vision, retirement savings (401(k)), disability and life insurance, paid time off, parental leave, and other site-specific perks.
