Key Responsibilities
This is an entry-level, hands-on engineering role supporting electro-mechanical product development for 3D printing systems. Typical responsibilities include:
- Support the design and development of electro-mechanical components, subsystems, and assemblies used in 3D printing equipment
- Assist with prototyping, bench testing, verification/validation, and technical documentation
- Support product and process improvements to enhance performance, reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to support new product introductions and production builds
- Help execute test plans; collect, analyze, and summarize test data
- Provide day-to-day engineering support for assembly and manufacturing activities, including troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
- Maintain CAD models, drawings, bills of materials, and other engineering documents
- Participate in continuous improvement and cross-functional problem-solving activities
- Perform additional engineering tasks as assigned to support team and business needs
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Good organizational, time-management, and communication skills
- Basic understanding of the product development lifecycle (requirements → design → prototype → test → release)
- Familiarity with structured problem-solving and failure analysis methods
- Solid mechanical design fundamentals (tolerances, fits); introductory FEA exposure is a plus
- Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks
- Exposure to electro-mechanical systems (motors, actuators, sensors, motion components)
- Familiarity with 3D printing technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes is desirable
- Experience or interest in hydraulic, pneumatic, or electromechanical actuation systems is a plus
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- 0–3 years relevant engineering experience — internships, co-ops, senior projects, or lab experience welcome
Physical & Work Environment
- Predominantly on-site work with both bench and desk activities
- Prolonged periods working at a computer
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally
- Travel 5% or less
Compensation (Estimated)
- Estimated salary: $97,193 per year (reported estimate)
