What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an Electrical Engineering New Graduate to join the MEP/healthcare-focused team in Rock Island, IL. This entry-level role delivers hands-on design, analysis, and project execution experience with strong mentoring and professional development.

  • Assist in the design and analysis of electrical systems for buildings using engineering software and tools to produce detailed designs, specifications, and calculations that meet code and firm standards
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and execution activities to meet deadlines and budgets
  • Interact with clients to gather requirements and communicate technical information professionally
  • Document design decisions and track project design progress
  • Analyze low- to medium-complexity electrical engineering tasks with guidance from senior engineers
  • Participate in quality control processes to ensure designs meet internal and industry standards
  • Research industry trends and contribute to innovation and continuous-improvement efforts
  • Prioritize safety by identifying and helping mitigate electrical system risks
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (engineers, architects, project managers) to deliver integrated project solutions

What You’ll Bring

Required Education

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts for producing technical plans and specifications
  • Solid understanding of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and building electrical systems design
  • Familiarity with lighting photometric tools (AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or similar) and energy compliance tools (e.g., ComCheck)
  • Experience with Adobe, Bluebeam Revu, and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Basic knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and eagerness to learn
  • Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays

Preferred

  • Prior internship experience in building design consulting
  • Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred

About the Team

The team’s service mix includes industrial support, substations, automation/controls, structural support, facility infrastructure projects, and recurring civil/municipal water/wastewater work. Recent efforts have included security upgrades, industrial facility improvements, and infrastructure-driven projects rather than only traditional commercial building design.


Location & Schedule

  • Location: Rock Island, IL (in-office)
  • Work schedule: Full-time, primarily on-site
  • Travel: Up to 5%

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range (Illinois): $36.50–$38.50 per hour
  • Individual pay will be based on experience, education, skills, and certifications
