What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Electrical Engineer to join their Manhattan, NY team to support the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems for building projects across government/municipal and science & technology markets. This is a full-time, hybrid New Graduate role with mentorship and structured training.

  • Assist in the design and analysis of electrical systems for buildings, producing calculations, drawings, and specifications that meet code and firm standards.
  • Use industry tools to develop lighting, power, and distribution designs; prepare documents for permitting and construction.
  • Communicate with clients to gather requirements and relay technical information clearly and professionally.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and documentation of design decisions and client directives.
  • Perform low- to medium-complexity engineering analyses and collaborate with senior engineers to create practical solutions.
  • Participate in quality control reviews and help ensure work meets project goals and regulatory standards.
  • Research industry trends and contribute to innovations that improve energy efficiency and system performance (aligned with MEP2050 / AIA2030 goals).
  • Prioritize safety in all engineering work and identify/mitigate electrical system risks.
  • Travel occasionally (up to 5%) for site visits or client meetings.

What You’ll Bring

Required

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Engineering in Training (EIT) certification or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with building electrical design principles: circuit theory, power systems, lighting, and code compliance.
  • Experience or familiarity with lighting photometric and energy compliance tools (examples: AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, ComCheck).
  • Comfortable with Adobe / Bluebeam Revu and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Basic Building Information Modeling (BIM) awareness.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving orientation, and eagerness to learn.

Preferred

  • Prior internship or co-op experience in building design or MEP consulting.
  • Active or pursuing EIT license; clear path toward PE support.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift/carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach, and handle materials.
  • Limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasional loud noises.

Compensation

State of New York salary range: $79,000 – $83,000 per year.
This range reflects the base pay Confidential Client reasonably expects to pay for this position in Manhattan, NY. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, education, skills, and licensure. Additional reward opportunities may include bonuses and equity/ownership programs where offered.


Location & Work Schedule

  • Work location: Manhattan, NY (hybrid).
  • Travel: up to 5% (occasional overnight).
