Overview
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Electrical Engineer to join their MEP/building-design team in Broomall, PA. This role is a full-time, hybrid position supporting electrical design, analysis, and implementation oversight for hospitality, mixed-use, and other commercial MEP projects. The position includes mentorship, structured development, and opportunities to grow from EIT toward PE.
What You’ll Do
- Assist in the design and analysis of electrical systems for buildings, producing design drawings, specifications, and calculations that meet code and firm standards.
- Support client communication to gather requirements, convey technical information, and maintain professional relationships.
- Participate as a member of project teams to execute consulting assignments from schematic design through construction.
- Help with project planning, scheduling, and tracking design progress to meet deadlines and budget targets.
- Document design decisions, client instructions, and coordination items throughout the project lifecycle.
- Analyze low- to medium-complexity engineering tasks and collaborate with senior engineers to develop practical solutions.
- Participate in quality-control processes to ensure deliverables meet firm and industry standards.
- Keep current with industry trends, energy-efficiency strategies (MEP2050 / AIA2030 approaches), and emerging technologies.
- Work within project budgets and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (architects, mechanical/plumbing engineers, project managers).
- Prioritize safety and identify/mitigate electrical system hazards.
- Travel up to ~5% for occasional site visits and client meetings.
What You’ll Bring
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required.
- Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certification required; EIT license preferred.
Technical Skills
- Fundamental knowledge of circuit theory, power systems, electromagnetics, and electronics as applied to building electrical design.
- Familiarity with lighting photometric tools (AGi32, ElumTools, Visual Lighting or similar) and energy compliance tools (e.g., ComCheck).
- Basic Building Information Modeling (BIM) awareness and collaboration experience.
- Comfortable with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and document review tools (Adobe, Bluebeam Revu).
Personal Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Team-oriented with attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Eagerness to learn, adapt, and take direction from mentors and senior staff.
- Prior internship experience in building design consulting is a plus.
Physical Requirements & Work Arrangement
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, see, and hear; may lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Occasional travel and overnight stays (~5%).
- Limited exposure to outside weather and occasional loud environments.
- Work schedule: Full-time, hybrid (office + remote as assigned).
