What You’ll Do

This entry-level Electrical Engineering New Grad role will join the confidential client’s project teams to support building electrical system design, implementation oversight, and client-facing consulting work. Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the analysis and design of electrical systems for buildings, producing drawings, specifications, and calculations that meet codes and project standards
  • Support engineering analysis and implementation oversight during construction and commissioning activities
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (MEP engineers, architects, project managers) to deliver integrated solutions for education and municipal projects
  • Communicate with clients to gather requirements and clearly convey technical information
  • Help plan and schedule project tasks to meet timelines and budget targets
  • Document design decisions, client instructions, and monitor design progress for quality and compliance
  • Analyze low- to medium-complexity engineering tasks and develop practical solutions with guidance from senior staff
  • Participate in internal quality-control processes to ensure deliverables meet firm and industry standards
  • Stay current on electrical engineering trends, energy-efficient design best practices (including MEP2050 / AIA2030 alignment), and relevant software tools
  • Prioritize safety and identify potential electrical system risks during design and field work

What You’ll Bring

Education

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent — required

Experience

  • Entry-level / new graduate applicants welcome; prior internships in building design consulting are a plus

Required skills & abilities

  • Strong technical foundation: circuit theory, power systems, electromagnetism, and building electrical system fundamentals
  • Familiarity with industry software: lighting photometric tools (AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting, or similar), energy compliance tools (ComCheck), and PDF/markup tools (Adobe, Bluebeam Revu)
  • Basic experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflows
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work collaboratively in teams
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and eagerness to learn
  • Ability to travel up to 5% (occasionally overnight)

Preferred

  • Internship experience in building design consulting
  • Engineering in Training (EIT) credential preferred

  • Project focus includes K–12, higher education, and municipal/public-sector work in South Carolina, often with full MEP and fire protection scopes for new schools, additions, renovations, and public buildings
  • Projects regularly include technology and security coordination on larger school projects; team also supports public safety, county, healthcare, recreation, and related work as required
  • Typical recent work includes electrical lighting rework for school districts, MCC replacement for state facilities, and science building additions and renovations at public universities
