What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer to support shipboard and naval electrical systems in San Diego, CA. You will work on design, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic systems that support defense and government missions. This role pairs hands-on technical work with mentorship from senior engineers.
- Assist in the design and development of electrical systems and components for Navy and defense platforms.
- Perform circuit design, modeling, and simulation to verify system performance and reliability.
- Create, review, and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Support prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting, and acceptance of electrical subsystems.
- Collaborate with mechanical, systems, and program teams during design reviews and integration events.
- Contribute to technical presentations, status reports, and engineering test plans.
- Support testing and integration of automated test equipment (ATE), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), power regulators, and analog/digital systems.
Qualifications
Required minimums (one of the following education/experience combinations):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferred) OR
- Associate’s Degree + 3 years relevant experience OR
- High School Diploma + 6 years relevant experience
Required skills and eligibility:
- Ability to engage directly with customers and government stakeholders to gather requirements and report status.
- Familiarity with systems engineering concepts and engineering documentation.
- Experience or demonstrated ability to design and troubleshoot electrical systems.
- Comfortable working independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain or possess a Secret security clearance.
- Strong work habits, eagerness to learn, and effective written/verbal communication.
Preferred / Desired Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience with design analysis, test planning, and technical data package documentation.
- Knowledge of uninterruptible power supplies, power quality analysis, and input current/power calculations.
- Proficiency with multi-meter, oscilloscope, and power quality analyzer tools.
- Familiarity with cable harnesses, connectors, wiring best practices, NEMA & military standards.
- Understanding of Navy shipboard power systems and interfaces.
- Experience performing root cause analysis on failed electronic components and writing engineering reports or work instructions.
Location, Clearance & Work Arrangement
- Location: San Diego, CA (onsite work and government-site requirements may apply).
- Work arrangement: Full-time; remote/hybrid status is subject to change based on client and government requirements.
- Security: Must have or be able to obtain a Secret clearance. U.S. citizenship required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Posted salary range: USD $63,600.00 - USD $99,450.00 per year (projected full-time range).
