Why This Opportunity Stands Out

This is a hands-on product engineering role with a confidential client building electrical systems for commercial mobile equipment. You’ll work across the full product lifecycle — concept, electrical design, prototyping, validation, production launch, troubleshooting, and ongoing improvement. The engineering team is lean and autonomous, so you’ll own work end-to-end and make technical decisions that matter.

  • See your designs through from idea to finished product.
  • Work directly with prototypes, test equipment, manufacturing, and finished goods.
  • Contribute to a next-generation product platform that will generate multi-year development work.
  • Career growth options — technical depth, leadership, or cross-functional moves are available.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will design, test, and support electrical systems used in commercial mobile equipment, with a strong hands-on emphasis.

  • Design, develop, test, and support electrical systems for commercial mobile equipment.
  • Work primarily with 12V DC electrical systems: motors, relays, wiring, connectors, and electromechanical components.
  • Participate in new product development from requirements and concept through prototype development, validation, production, and market introduction.
  • Evaluate electrical components and alternative solutions for performance, cost, obsolescence, and sourcing.
  • Develop test plans and perform hands-on product testing and validation.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and electromechanical issues in lab, production, and field settings.
  • Reproduce field issues, identify root causes, develop corrective actions, and validate fixes.
  • Work with vehicle communication and integration technologies (exposure to CAN bus and serial communications).
  • Partner closely with mechanical, hydraulic, firmware/software, manufacturing, sourcing, marketing, and technical service teams.
  • Support reliability, quality, and continuous product improvements.
  • Contribute to next-generation product platform development.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field.
  • Ideally 2+ years of electrical engineering experience in product development, mobile equipment, vehicles, electromechanical or industrial products. Recent graduates with strong internships/co-ops/project work are encouraged to apply.
  • Solid understanding of electrical fundamentals and practical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with or exposure to 12V DC electrical systems is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with motors, relays, wiring, electrical power, connectors, and related electromechanical components.
  • Ability to understand and work across electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Hands-on approach to engineering and problem solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities with minimal direction.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and business teams.

Experience That Would Be a Plus

Relevant, but not required, experience or tools that transfer well:

  • CAN bus or other vehicle communication systems
  • Serial communications
  • Commercial vehicles or mobile equipment (ag, construction, off-highway, recreational)
  • Electromechanical product development; motors and motor controls
  • PLCs or industrial controls
  • AutoCAD, DraftSight, or SolidWorks
  • Oscilloscopes and other electrical test equipment
  • Prototype development and hands-on product testing
  • Manufacturing or production support

If you enjoy working on cars, tractors, boats, power equipment, robotics, or other electromechanical systems outside of work, that practical curiosity will translate well here.

Who Will Do Well Here?

  • Someone who prefers variety and ownership over narrowly focused tasks.
  • Someone who wants to understand entire products, not just isolated components.
  • Someone comfortable moving between the engineering bench, the manufacturing floor, and field troubleshooting.
  • A practical, curious engineer who takes ownership and learns quickly.

Compensation, Benefits & Work Environment

  • Competitive base salary (determined by experience).
  • Eligible for company profit sharing.
  • Full benefits package: medical, dental/vision, retirement benefits, paid time off, and other company programs.
  • Primarily onsite at the Butler, WI facility because of the hands-on nature of the role; some remote flexibility when the work allows.
  • Typical hours approximately 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM with flexible start/end times.
  • Strong emphasis on work-life balance.

Work Authorization

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Current or future visa sponsorship is not available.
