What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Electrical Engineer (onsite) to join their Power Electronics team. In this hands-on role you will contribute to the design, development, testing, and documentation of power electronics and electrical systems used in industrial chiller applications.

Key responsibilities:

  • Report to the Power Electronics Department to support design, test, and maintenance of power electronics products and systems.
  • Interpret design specifications and design electrical/electronic circuitry to meet requirements.
  • Perform circuit design, component selection, and compliance procedure creation for electrical/electronic circuitry.
  • Prepare and coordinate release of technical documentation for component design and manufacturing.
  • Participate in preliminary design, systems architecture, and feasibility studies for new or modified systems.
  • Conduct cost-impact analyses for proposed design changes and software/application updates.
  • Serve as a technical liaison for troubleshooting field and factory issues related to power electronics products and systems.
  • Forecast and schedule work activities and help define repeatable engineering processes.

How You’ll Do It

You will work onsite with engineers, designers, and technicians as part of cross-functional teams. Typical tasks include schematic and PCB-level design, simulation and model-based testing, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) work, lab validation, and documentation handoff for manufacturing. This role involves direct collaboration on power electronics controls and inverter systems.

Tools & environments commonly used:

  • Matlab/Simulink, OPAL-RT, Saber, HIL platforms
  • Laboratory test equipment for power electronics validation
  • Standard engineering documentation and version control processes

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Foundational knowledge of three-phase power (via coursework, internship, or co-op).
  • Circuit design experience from coursework or internship/co-op experience.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. (U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident) is required.

Preferred

  • Master’s or Ph.D. focused on Power Electronics.
  • Experience with power electronics controls and IGBT-based inverters.
  • Familiarity with Matlab/Simulink, OPAL-RT, Saber, HIL testing.
  • HVAC industry experience or prior work on chiller-related power systems.

Location & Eligibility

  • Work type: Onsite (candidates must be within commuting distance to Baltimore, MD or willing to relocate).
  • Relocation support: Confidential Client may offer relocation packages based on candidate needs.
  • Eligibility: Authorization to work in the U.S. (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) is required for consideration.

Compensation & Benefits

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $75,000 - $90,000 per year (salary will be determined by education, experience, skills, and alignment with market data). This role includes a comprehensive benefits package. The posted range reflects target compensation; exceptional candidates may warrant higher offers.
