About the Role
Confidential Client is hiring an entry‑level Electrical Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) to join their electrical engineering team in Lakeside, VA. This is a hands‑on design role where you will work with licensed engineers on power distribution, lighting, load calculations, and other building electrical systems across government, institutional, and private projects. This position supports professional growth on the path to a PE license.
What You’ll Do
- Work with licensed engineers to develop electrical design drawings and specifications for power distribution, lighting, and building systems
- Perform load calculations, coordinate electrical systems with other design disciplines, and apply applicable codes and standards
- Prepare and review technical documentation, equipment schedules, and design calculations
- Assist with field investigations and testing to understand installation and performance of electrical systems
- Collaborate with architects and civil/structural/mechanical engineers to integrate electrical systems into overall building design
- Participate in project meetings, client coordination, and project deliverables from schematic through construction phases
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam passed by the start date (EIT status)
- Revit experience preferred (BIM/Revit familiar)
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn
- Good verbal and written communication skills for client and team interactions
- Eligible to work in the United States and able to obtain a security clearance as required by some projects
