What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer in Training (EIT) to join their Buildings team in Kansas City, MO. In this role you will support assessment of existing facilities and help develop electrical designs for building projects. You will work under licensed engineers and with cross-discipline teams to deliver design, documentation, and commissioning support.

  • Support investigation, planning, design, and commissioning of existing facility electrical systems
  • Assist with electrical, lighting, telecommunications, security, and fire alarm system design
  • Produce and update construction drawings using CAD and BIM tools
  • Perform electrical calculations with engineering oversight and use Excel-based design tools
  • Participate in site visits and occasional travel to project locations
  • Coordinate with project managers, architectural teams, and regional offices
  • Follow Quality Assurance and Quality Control plans and maintain accurate project documentation and accounting
  • Engage in client-facing interactions alongside senior staff and project managers

Qualifications (Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or architectural engineering (electrical focus) from an ABET-accredited program
  • Registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or ability to obtain EIT registration within 6 months of start date
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel required)
  • Foundational knowledge of building systems and electrical distribution
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines with attention to quality

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • 1–2 years of building design and construction industry experience (internships or co-op experience count)
  • Experience producing electrical design plans and specifications under the guidance of a licensed engineer
  • Familiarity with power distribution, lighting, and telecommunications systems
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit, CAD, or other BIM tools
  • Experience working as an engineering sub-consultant to architectural firms

Location & Travel

This position is based in Kansas City, Missouri. Occasional travel to project sites and regional offices may be required.


Compensation (Estimated)

  • Estimated base salary: $78,355 per year (estimated). Actual compensation will depend on experience and qualifications and will be communicated by Confidential Client during the hiring process.
