What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking an electrical engineer to join its electrical group. In this hybrid role you will support the Engineering and Design business unit, working with multidisciplinary project teams and providing electrical engineering and technical expertise. Typical project work includes designing power and control systems for power plants, refineries, mine processing facilities, heavy industrial sites, and municipal water/wastewater facilities.

  • Complete calculations and technical analyses and develop design details
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, sketches, and cost estimates
  • Select equipment and prepare procurement specifications
  • Write proposals, technical reports, and client communications
  • Integrate process, mechanical, and control requirements into comprehensive electrical systems
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to align technical solutions with project objectives

About You — Required Core Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field with coursework focused on power or control systems
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, or ability to obtain within one year
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and Word
  • Current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; ability to work in a team and manage project tasks

Helpful (Optional) Experience

  • 2+ years of design experience in consulting engineering or an industrial organization
  • Protective device coordination, short-circuit studies, and arc flash analyses using SKM or ETAP
  • Experience with motor control, lighting, grounding, conduit plans, power cable sizing, and electrical equipment
  • Understanding of PLCs and experience with automation platforms such as Rockwell Automation Logix, Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk
  • Familiarity with collection system design, cable ampacity analyses using CYME
  • Experience in power, fuels, mining, water/wastewater, or manufacturing industries

Location & Travel

  • Hybrid work arrangement: time split between a local office and home. This role is based out of the Confidential Client offices in Minneapolis (primary) or Duluth, MN.
  • Travel expectation: up to 10–15% domestic fieldwork. Field assignments may require working on rough terrain and lifting or moving field testing equipment. Safety training will be provided.

Compensation & Employment Type

  • Anticipated salary range: $73,000–$90,000 annually. Actual pay will depend on experience, education, skill level, and other lawful factors.
  • May be eligible for discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance.
  • This position is classified as exempt (salaried) under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is listed as PART_TIME for scheduling/benefits purposes.
