Role Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an Entry-Level Electrical Engineer to support electrical design, testing, and manufacturing validation for specialty vehicle products. This is an early-career, full-time engineering role based in Charlotte, MI. The role is hands-on with design work, CAD/CAE modeling, test definition, and cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing teams.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with design, development, and testing of electrical components and systems for specialty vehicles.
- Support creation and review of electrical part specifications and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Use CAD/CAE tools to model designs and produce detailed engineering drawings.
- Verify designs through calculations, simulation, and analytical techniques.
- Define test requirements, execute or support validation tests, and interpret test results to validate designs.
- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles with an emphasis on metal fabrication and assemblies.
- Support engineering change processes and maintain accurate documentation.
- Participate in root cause analysis and suggest corrective actions using problem-solving techniques (5 Whys, RCA).
- Use lean principles to support continuous improvement in manufacturing and business processes.
- Communicate status and technical information clearly to production teams and leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent education.
- 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience (entry-level).
- Proficiency with CAD and CAE software.
- Familiarity with electrical design fundamentals, prototyping, and reliability analysis.
- Working knowledge of engineering mathematics, simulations, and data-driven analysis.
- Experience or exposure to manufacturing environments (metal fabrication and assemblies preferred).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with hourly production staff and leadership.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
- Strong attention to detail, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
Preferred / Helpful Skills
- Experience with product specification writing and BOM development.
- Knowledge of statistical techniques and basic quality assurance processes.
- Familiarity with DFM, cost estimation, and design optimization.
- Experience with root cause analysis and structured problem-solving.
- Hands-on experience with lab or field testing of electrical systems.
