What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is recruiting an Entry Electrical Engineer to support Distributed Energy Resources (DER) and Transportation Electrification initiatives. In this role you will support EV charging infrastructure projects and other DER integrations by assisting with engineering analysis, interconnection reviews, site assessments, and documentation.

  • Assist modeling and impact analysis for EV infrastructure, distributed solar, battery storage, V2G/V2B, and flexible load programs.
  • Support feeder and substation models, hosting capacity assessments, and basic simulations under supervision.
  • Help with site assessments, equipment sizing, service upgrade analysis, interconnection reviews, and commissioning procedures for EV charging installations.
  • Assist with DER interconnection application support, data gathering, and basic equipment rating checks.
  • Support forecasting and system planning tasks by compiling data and assisting analyses for EV adoption and DER growth.
  • Help maintain technical standards, service requirements, protection coordination documents, MOPs, and commissioning plans.
  • Contribute to project engineering tasks across feasibility, design review, field verification, testing, and commissioning stages.
  • Produce and maintain technical reports, studies, as-built documentation, and distribution model records.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly to operations, planning, and customer-facing teams.

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • One (1) or more years of relevant experience in design, construction, or maintenance of electrical systems for electric utility assets — or six (6) months or more of relevant internship experience with the Confidential Client.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Basic electrical theory and engineering fundamentals.
  • Working familiarity with CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD) and standard office software (spreadsheets, word processing).
  • Ability to perform routine relay coordination studies and prepare technical specifications with supervision.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate with field crews, planning, and customer programs.
  • Willingness to learn utility standards, codes, and regulations.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of EV charging systems and DER technologies.
  • Experience or coursework in distribution system modeling, hosting capacity analysis, or interconnection engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with site assessments, commissioning, and field verification.
  • Demonstrated eagerness to grow into broader planning and DER integration responsibilities.

Compensation, Schedule & Location

  • Salary range (provided): $110,801.60 — $146,785.60 per year.
  • Employment type: Part-time contractor (as listed).
  • Work model: Hybrid — role requires onsite presence one or more days per week at Confidential Client locations in the Sacramento/Florin area; schedule may vary based on project needs.
