Position Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) propulsion and associated shipboard systems. This full-time role is based in Elkins Park, PA and includes travel of approximately 10–20% (typical locations: Norfolk VA, San Diego CA, Mayport FL, Seattle WA). Entry-level candidates with 0–3 years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Provide engineering, technical, logistics, and obsolescence support for U.S. Navy ships and vessels, focusing on HM&E propulsion and related systems.

• Provide design support for integration of equipment in industrial and shipboard environments
• Provide technical input to the design of future Machinery Control Systems (MCS)
• Develop, derive, and refine system and software requirements for fielded and future systems
• Troubleshoot fielded systems including microprocessor and PLC-based systems
• Review technical documentation and provide test support at Land Based Engineering Site (LBES)
• Support shipboard software and hardware installation during modernization availabilities
• Develop test procedures to validate system requirements
• Design, develop, test, install, and maintain MCS software and supporting software products
• Identify, document, and resolve software and system problems through debugging, research, and investigation
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation including user manuals and product specifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering preferred)
• 0–3 years of relevant professional experience; academic, internship, co-op, or similar experience acceptable for entry-level candidates
• Ability to provide proof of degree completion (diploma or official transcript) prior to start
• Active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance
• Valid U.S. passport or ability to obtain one upon hire
• Willingness to travel approximately 10–20% with trips typically 1–2 weeks
• Ability to meet physical requirements for naval industrial environments, including standing/walking on uneven surfaces, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 pounds with occasional assistance
• Ability to work safely in varied environmental conditions and respond to emergency situations

Desired Qualifications

• Knowledge of industrial control systems concepts, practices, and procedures
• Proficiency reading electrical diagrams and using test/diagnostic tools for industrial control systems
• Basic network troubleshooting knowledge and familiarity with TCP/IP and UDP
• Technical writing ability and clear verbal communication skills in integrated team environments
• Experience with Rockwell, Siemens, or other PLC systems
• Experience upgrading legacy embedded hardware platforms and working with VME systems
• Experience supporting and troubleshooting networked, IP-based systems
• Self-motivated with strong problem-solving and time-management skills

Compensation & Location

• Location: Elkins Park, PA (onsite responsibilities and travel as noted)
• Posted salary range: USD $71,800.00 – USD $112,150.00 per year (based on full-time status; prorated for part-time)
