What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring an Electrical Engineer (contract-to-hire, hybrid) to design, verify, and support circuit card assemblies (CCAs) and supporting electronics used in advanced infrared sensor and camera systems. You will work across the product lifecycle—from requirements and schematic capture through test, integration, and production—collaborating closely with IC design, firmware, software, mechanical, systems, and test engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, decompose, and document electrical and system-level requirements for CCAs and supporting electronics.
- Design circuit cards including component selection, schematic capture, and collaborate on PCB layout and documentation of design decisions.
- Plan, execute, and document verification testing, troubleshooting, and debug for CCAs to ensure performance and reliability.
- Integrate CCAs into larger EO/IR camera and sensor systems and support system-level validation.
- Use lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, signal sources) to validate and debug designs.
- Create design-review materials and present technical results to peers, leadership, and customers.
- Gather and analyze engineering data to support trade studies and data-driven decisions.
- Prepare and review basis of estimates (BOEs) to inform project planning, cost, and schedule.
- Support continuous improvement of design and verification processes and documentation standards.
- Execute assigned tasks on schedule, proactively communicate status, and escalate issues that may impact delivery.
- Mentor and collaborate with senior engineers while progressively owning more complex design responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent.
- Internship/co-op experience in electrical or electronics design, or 1+ years of professional electrical engineering experience (entry-level to EE level 3).
- Foundational circuit card design experience with analog or digital hardware at the board level.
- Experience or exposure to schematic capture tools (Cadence, Mentor, Altium or similar).
- Ability to perform integration and test (V&V) activities for circuit card assemblies in new products.
- Familiarity with lab test and debug equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, digital multimeters).
- Solid technical communication and documentation skills; able to prepare and deliver technical presentations.
- Diligent, detail-oriented, self-driven, and able to prioritize tasks and work both independently and on cross-functional teams.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience with PCB design tools such as Cadence Allegro.
- High-speed digital design, digital signal processing (DSP) experience.
- EO/IR sensor or video camera systems development experience.
- Firmware or softcore processor experience (VHDL or similar).
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC, packaging constraints, and system integration in regulated environments (aerospace/defense).
- Prior work in R&D environments with hands-on analog/digital board design.
Compensation & Benefits
- Contract-to-hire pay range: $55.00 - $63.00 per hour. Final pay within this range depends on qualifications, experience, location, and other job-related factors.
