What You’ll Do
As an entry-level Electrical Engineer (Electrical Engineer 1) on the Nuclear team, you'll contribute to the design, modernization, and analysis of electrical systems for nuclear generating stations, restart projects, small modular reactors (SMRs), and advanced reactor facilities. You will work under daily technical supervision from experienced engineers and subject-matter experts to deliver safe, reliable electrical engineering solutions that support plant life-extension, digital upgrades, and major project implementations.
Responsibilities
- Assist with engineering calculations and design tasks for large nuclear power stations, including protection & coordination studies, cable sizing, medium and low voltage system design, and DC battery sizing.
- Perform power systems analysis and modeling using industry-standard tools (e.g., ETAP).
- Support selection, integration, and specification of major electrical equipment: switchgear, MCCs, transformers, breakers, relays, and other power components.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, designers, and drafters to create constructible drawings and deliverables.
- Participate in technical reviews, training sessions, and coordination with client stakeholders (Operations, Systems Engineering).
- Support onsite activities at nuclear facilities including walkdowns, installation witness, testing, and outage support (unescorted access may be required and provided).
- Develop project documentation and, under supervision, qualify as a preparer for engineering deliverables.
- Work within project schedules and budgets, applying effective time management and teamwork skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with strong coursework or emphasis in power systems or power concepts.
- Understanding of practical electrical engineering application and design principles.
- Knowledge of producing technical plans, drawings, and models.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid problem-solving ability and willingness to learn under mentorship.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for this position.
Preferred (Valued) Qualifications
- Degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
- Coursework in Power Systems Analysis, Electric Machinery, Power Electronics, or similar.
- Internship or practical experience performing power analysis (power industry experience preferred).
- Experience performing transient or protection analysis using ETAP, SKM, or similar tools.
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam completion / Engineer-in-Training designation.
- Interest or experience with automation, data tools, or AI-assisted engineering workflows (valued but not required).
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $62,998 - $90,586 (annual). This range is provided to comply with applicable pay transparency rules.

- Eligibility for discretionary annual bonus and licensure/first professional licensure bonus where applicable.

- Primary work location: Northville, MI (on-site / client site access as required).
- Employment type: Full-time (contract engagement possible per project).
