What You’ll Do

You will join our client’s Nuclear Power engineering team as an entry-level Electrical Engineer and contribute to the design, modernization, and analysis of electrical systems for nuclear plants, restart projects, small modular reactors (SMRs), and advanced reactor facilities. You’ll work under daily technical supervision from experienced engineers and subject-matter experts, gaining hands-on experience, training, and mentorship.

  • Assist with engineering calculations and design tasks for large nuclear power generating stations.
  • Support protection and coordination studies, cable sizing, medium- and low-voltage system design, and DC battery sizing.
  • Use industry tools (e.g., ETAP) to perform power systems analysis and modeling for complex electrical networks.
  • Help specify and integrate major electrical equipment (switchgear, MCCs, transformers, breakers, relays).
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, designers, and drafters to translate concepts into detailed drawings and deliverables.
  • Participate in station walkdowns, installation/test witnessing, and refueling outage support as required.
  • Learn project execution under fixed schedules and budgets; develop communication and coordination skills.
  • Receive mentorship on professional licensure pathways, including steps toward PE qualification.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with strong coursework in power systems or related topics.
  • Solid understanding of electrical power concepts and practical application of engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of design techniques and tools used to produce technical plans and models.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and eagerness to learn.

Preferred (valued) Qualifications

  • Degree from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Power-focused coursework (Power Systems Analysis, Electric Machinery, Power Electronics).
  • Internship or experience performing power analysis, ideally in the power generation industry.
  • Experience with transient power-system analysis tools (ETAP, SKM).
  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or Engineer-in-Training designation.
  • Familiarity with scripting or programming (Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations or reporting.

Modern Tools & Automation

Our client expects engineers to use data and modern tools — including automation and appropriate agentic AI — to reduce rework and improve efficiency. Experience building or using scripts/automation to create calculations, summarize technical documents, or draft design content is highly valued (with strong engineering judgment and verification).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range (estimated): $62,998 - $90,586 per year.

Safety & Site Access

Some assignments require unescorted access to nuclear generating stations and participation in onsite activities (walkdowns, installations, testing, and refueling outage support). Candidates must be able to meet site access and qualification requirements.
