Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer (Electrical Engineer 1) to join a Nuclear Power Group. This role targets a Spring & Summer 2027 start and focuses on design, analysis, and modernization of electrical systems for nuclear generation projects — including operating plants, restart projects, small modular reactors (SMRs), and advanced reactors. You will work under senior engineer direction, gain hands-on experience, and receive mentorship toward professional licensure.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with engineering calculations and design tasks for large nuclear power generating stations, including protection & coordination studies, cable sizing, medium/low-voltage system design, and DC battery sizing.
- Use industry-standard tools (for example ETAP) to perform power systems modeling and transient analysis.
- Help design, select, and integrate major electrical equipment: switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), large power transformers, breakers, and relays.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, designers, and drafters to translate concepts into detailed drawings and deliverables.
- Participate in technical training, reviews, and client meetings (Operations, Systems Engineering).
- Support on-site activities at nuclear generating stations — walkdowns, installation and testing witness, and outage support — with appropriate site qualifications.
- Work within project schedules and budgets while developing communication, time management, and documentation skills.
- Learn the pathway to Professional Engineer (PE) licensure with mentorship and exposure to required career-development activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science in Electrical Engineering with strong coursework or background in power systems analysis.
- Demonstrated understanding of practical electrical engineering applications, systems, and design principles.
- Familiarity with producing technical plans, drawings, and models.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred (Valued) Qualifications
- Degree from an ABET-accredited program.
- Coursework such as Power Systems Analysis, Electric Machinery, Power Electronics.
- Internship or prior experience performing power analysis in the energy or utility industry.
- Experience with transient power system analysis tools (ETAP, SKM).
- Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam; Engineer-in-Training designation.
- Programming or scripting (Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations or reporting is a plus.
- Training or coursework in Computer Science, AI, or software engineering that supports automation and agentic AI use for engineering tasks.
AI & Automation Expectations
- Use data and modern tools (automation, AI) responsibly to improve workflows and reduce rework — with strong engineering judgment and verification.
- Engineers are encouraged to build or use automation for calculations, document summaries, and drafting support where appropriate.
- Programming/scripting skills are valued but not required.

Compensation
- Base salary range (posted): $62,998 – $90,586 per year (consistent with local pay-transparency disclosures).
- Eligible roles may also participate in discretionary bonuses and other total-compensation elements.
