What You’ll Do

This entry-level Electrical Engineer role supports large-scale nuclear power projects and station modernization efforts. You will work on a project team under daily technical supervision, contributing to electrical system design, analysis, and documentation for nuclear power generating stations, SMRs, and advanced reactor work.

  • Assist with engineering calculations and design tasks: protection & coordination studies, cable sizing, medium/low voltage system design, DC battery sizing, and safety-related system analyses
  • Use power system modeling tools (example: ETAP) to perform load flow, short-circuit, and transient analyses
  • Support selection, integration, and specification of major electrical equipment (switchgear, MCCs, transformers, breakers, relays)
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—designers, drafters, operations, and systems engineering—to translate concepts into detailed drawings and deliverables
  • Participate in technical reviews, training, and station-specific walkdowns; support installation, testing, and refueling outage activities when required
  • Follow established engineering processes, industry standards, and internal guidance to deliver safe, compliant solutions
  • Leverage automation and modern tools (scripts, spreadsheets, or AI-assisted workflows) to streamline calculations, checks, and documentation where appropriate

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base compensation range: $62,998 - $90,586 per year (range disclosed by our client)
  • Market/estimated salary (third-party estimate): $111,495 per year

Qualifications

Essential

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with strong coursework in power systems
  • Understanding of electrical power system fundamentals and practical application to design tasks
  • Familiarity with technical drawing and documentation practices for electrical systems
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and problem-solving ability

Valued but not required

  • Degree from an ABET-accredited program
  • Coursework such as Power Systems Analysis, Electric Machinery, Power Electronics
  • Internship or hands-on experience in power systems analysis or the electric power industry
  • Experience performing transient or protection analyses using ETAP or SKM
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) passed / Engineer-in-Training designation
  • Programming or scripting (Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering checks and reporting
