What You’ll Do

As an entry-level Electrical (FPGA) Engineer (Electrical Engineer 1) at our confidential client, you will support FPGA digital design and verification work for aerospace and defense systems. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Support requirements capture and contribute to FPGA digital architecture.
  • Implement FPGA digital designs using RTL (VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog).
  • Support verification activities and system integration for FPGA implementations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (firmware, systems, hardware) to meet project milestones.
  • Follow established engineering processes and contribute to design reviews and documentation.

What You’ll Learn

  • Best practices for FPGA/ASIC architecture and implementation used in communications, security, and space systems.
  • Toolchain experience (simulation, synthesis, implementation, timing analysis).

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related STEM field completed by start date.
  • Experience or familiarity with RTL coding and simulation in VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate in multidisciplinary teams under aggressive schedules.
  • U.S. citizenship is required because the role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance preferred — the posting indicates an active/ existing clearance is required after day 1.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience using FPGA design tools (e.g., ModelSim, Quartus, Vivado).
  • Programming experience with C, MATLAB, or scripting languages (Python, Tcl, etc.).
  • Familiarity with version control tools (Git, Subversion).
  • Prior internship or hands-on technical project experience.
  • Leadership experience or demonstrated initiative on team projects.
  • Strong interest in firmware/embedded design and systems integration.

Location & Clearance

  • Worksite: Onsite in Marlborough, MA.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance. Candidates must be U.S. citizens. DoD Secret clearance is listed as required; an active/existing clearance is required after day 1 per the client.

Compensation

  • Salary range (good-faith estimate): USD 57,200 — USD 108,800 per year. The confidential client considers multiple factors when making offers, including role, experience, location, and skills.

Additional Notes

  • Role type: Onsite — employees in this classification work primarily on-site.
  • The confidential client may require select interview steps to be in-person for security or logistical reasons, regardless of role designation.
