What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Electrical Engineer (Electrical Engineer 1) to join its Avionics computing products team. In this hands-on role you'll help design, verify, and support digital hardware used in high-performance computing and network switch products for commercial avionics platforms.

• Use electrical engineering fundamentals to design, document, verify, troubleshoot, and support digital hardware for avionics systems.
• Collaborate with Systems, Software, Mechanical, Environmental Effects, Manufacturing/Operations, and Design-to-Cost teams to meet requirements across the product lifecycle.
• Work on digital logic and embedded system designs (ASIC/FPGA/CPLD, processors, memory subsystems).
• Help resolve production issues and support product sustainment when needed.

What You’ll Learn

• Exposure to avionics-grade digital hardware design and high-performance computing platforms.
• Experience across the full hardware lifecycle: requirements capture, schematic design, board-level validation, integration, verification, factory transition, and customer interface.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM major completed by the start date.
• U.S. Person requirement: must qualify as a U.S. Person per 8 U.S.C. definitions (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee/asylee, etc.).

Experience may be obtained through coursework, projects, research, or internship/co-op experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of digital circuit design parameters (throughput, rise time, clocking, propagation delay).
• Familiarity with computer hardware components and interfaces (processors, memory, bus architectures).
• Experience with schematic capture for mixed-signal or digital circuits.
• Knowledge of PCB layout and routing constraints.
• Experience interfacing complex embedded devices (processors, GPUs, FPGAs).
• Practical exposure to interfaces and protocols such as Ethernet, I2C, USB, LVDS, SERDES, and DDR memory.

Location & Working Arrangement

• Onsite — this role is based in Cedar Rapids, IA (1120 Collins Rd NE, BLDG193). Candidates should expect to work primarily on-site.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range (good-faith estimate): $57,200 — $108,800 USD per year.
• Relocation eligibility may apply.
• Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, tuition/learning support, parental leave, paid time off, and holiday pay. Specific benefits depend on business unit and employment status.
