Position overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer (Electrical Engineer 1) to join an engineering team focused on avionics and high-performance computing hardware. This is an onsite, full-time role based in Cedar Rapids, IA. The role supports the design, verification, and sustainment of digital hardware used in processing computers and network switching products for commercial avionics platforms.
What You’ll Do
- Use electrical engineering principles to design, develop, document, verify, support, and troubleshoot digital hardware for avionics products.
- Collaborate with systems, software, mechanical, environmental effects, manufacturing/operations, and design-to-cost teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Work on designs involving digital logic (ASIC/FPGA/CPLD), processors, and various memory technologies.
- Support production issues and maintenance activities as needed.

Qualifications — Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM major completed by start date.
- Experience may be satisfied via coursework, projects, research, or on-the-job experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of digital circuit design parameters (throughput, clocking, propagation delay, timing).
- Familiarity with computer hardware components, processors, memory, and interfaces.
- Experience or coursework in schematic capture for mixed-signal/digital designs.
- Knowledge of PCB layout and routing rules.
- Experience interfacing with embedded devices (processors, graphics, FPGA).
- Hands-on or academic experience with Ethernet, I2C, USB, LVDS, SERDES, and DDR memory interfaces.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD (good-faith estimate for all experience levels). Actual offers consider role responsibilities, experience, location, and skills.
