Key Responsibilities

Confidential Client's engineering team is seeking an Electrical Designer who will support design deliverables for industrial and water projects. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Produce schematics and one-line drawings from engineering sketches or mark-ups.
  • Design duct bank, embedded conduit, cable tray, grounding and lighting systems from concept through detailed drawings using engineering documents and vendor data.
  • Develop and check 3D models for interferences and constructability; route electrical cables in a 3D environment and generate cable schedules.
  • Model electrical components using vendor submittals and electrical designs.
  • Perform NEC-based calculations for conduit and cable tray fill and to size pull boxes.
  • Gather design data and verify voltage separation requirements.
  • Create plan drawings and electrical details for deliverables.
  • Coordinate with project team using project database tools (RFIs, ECNs, holds list, review requests).
  • Report project progress and issues to Lead Electrical Designers.
  • Complete as-builts and “Conformed to Construction Records” using RFIs, ECNs and red-line drawings.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide lessons learned to the project database.
  • Review and resolve drawing check comments; verify designs for safety, operability, and maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Associates, vocational, or Bachelor’s degree in Design & Drafting Technology, Engineering Technology, Electrical Design, or related field.
  • 0–2 years of electrical design or related experience preferred (entry-level candidates encouraged).
  • Experience with 3D and CAD tools such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, or similar.
  • Ability to conceptualize and work in a 3D modeling environment.
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets, databases and PDF/document workflows.
  • Effective written and verbal communication (email and electronic meeting tools).
  • Professional demeanor when interacting with owners, contractors, vendors and other project contacts.

  • Regular, reliable attendance and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Follow safety policies and written/oral instructions.
  • Capable of working within normal operating hours and available for overtime or weekends as project needs require.
  • Ability to perform miscellaneous project support tasks as assigned.

Location & Schedule

  • Location: Lenexa, KS (on-site-based role at the Lenexa office).
  • Employment type: Full-time.
  • May require occasional overtime or weekend work depending on project schedules.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated salary (per source): $63,301 per year (estimate).
