Electrical Designer — Jersey Village, TX

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Electrical Designer to support electrical system design, construction documentation, and BIM/VDC coordination for commercial, industrial, and mission‑critical projects. This role offers hands-on exposure to Revit/AutoCAD workflows, NEC-based design fundamentals, and cross-discipline coordination while working under senior design and engineering guidance.

What You’ll Do

• Assist in developing electrical system designs, construction drawings, and technical documentation.
• Support design of power distribution, lighting, grounding, and equipment layouts under supervision.
• Prepare and revise electrical drawings and BIM models using company standards and project requirements.
• Interpret project specifications, client requirements, and design criteria to create constructible solutions.
• Apply developing knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) to drawing preparation and documentation.
• Participate in BIM/VDC coordination to resolve model clashes and improve constructability.
• Review drawings and specifications to identify inconsistencies, omissions, and conflicts.
• Provide technical clarification to project teams and field personnel when assigned.
• Maintain organized design files, revision control, and document management throughout project lifecycle.
• Support continuous improvement by learning new design technologies and construction practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation

• Salary: $53,000 - $69,000 per year (full-time, exempt)

Required Qualifications

Education

• Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Design, Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Construction Technology, or related technical field preferred.
• Equivalent combinations of technical education and practical experience will be considered.

Experience & Technical Skills

• 1–3 years of electrical design, BIM/VDC, engineering support, or electrical construction experience preferred.
• Exposure to commercial, industrial, or mission‑critical construction projects preferred.
• Familiarity with Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, or similar design platforms preferred.
• Foundational understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, and NEC fundamentals.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, and construction documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business applications.

Professional Skills

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to technical accuracy and document quality.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate across design, VDC, project management, and field teams.
• Good organizational and time‑management skills; able to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Autodesk Revit and/or AutoCAD certification.
• BIM or VDC-related certifications.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or similar document management systems.
• Prior exposure to commercial, industrial, or mission‑critical electrical construction projects.
• Valid driver’s license as required for site visits.

Leadership & Team Collaboration

• Work closely with senior designers, engineers, project managers, VDC personnel, and field teams.
• Participate in project coordination meetings, technical reviews, and model coordination sessions.
• Support communication between design teams, construction personnel, and stakeholders.
• This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

• Primarily works in a professional office, design, or hybrid environment.
• Frequent use of computers and design software; periodic site visits required.
• Site visits may expose you to noise, dust, varying weather, elevated work areas, and active construction.
• Compliance with PPE and site safety procedures during field visits is required.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting and working at a computer workstation.
• Frequent keyboarding and use of hands and fingers.
• Ability to occasionally stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, and navigate active construction sites.
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

Schedule & Travel

• Full‑time, exempt; typical Monday–Friday business hours.
• Flexibility may be needed for project deadlines and coordination meetings (occasionally early/late/evening/weekend).
• Periodic travel to project sites, fabrication facilities, or client locations may be required.
