Role Overview

Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring an entry-level Electrical Design Test Engineer to design, prototype, and verify analog and mixed‑signal electronics used in flame scanners and combustion control products. You will help ensure product safety, regulatory compliance (UL, IEC, FCC), manufacturability, and performance through hands‑on lab testing and clear design/test documentation. This is a contract-to-hire, fully onsite role based in East Derry, NH.


What You’ll Do

  • Design, prototype, and test analog and mixed‑signal circuits for combustion control and flame-scanner products.
  • Define test requirements and produce Design Verification Test Reports to support certifications.
  • Develop and validate designs to meet UL, IEC, FCC, and other applicable safety and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with Hardware, Firmware, Design Validation Test, Product Management, Procurement, Quality, and Production teams to drive products from design through manufacturing readiness and launch.
  • Perform circuit analysis, simulations, and design reviews to confirm robustness and requirements compliance.
  • Execute EMI/EMC, thermal, and I/O characterization tests as required.
  • Use oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, data-acquisition systems, and other lab equipment for design verification and troubleshooting.
  • Apply FMEA and other structured analysis methods to identify and mitigate failure modes.
  • Build and modify prototypes using soldering and rework skills to support validation.
  • Support sustaining engineering by investigating field issues and implementing design improvements.
  • Contribute to value‑engineering efforts to optimize cost, reliability, and manufacturability.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong experience with analog circuit analysis, design, and testing.
  • Hands‑on experience with power supplies, signal conditioning, and relay‑drive circuits.
  • Solid understanding of semiconductor devices (diodes, MOSFETs), passives, relays, and transformers.
  • Proficiency with schematic capture, PCB layout concepts, and circuit simulation tools.
  • Practical lab skills using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and data‑acquisition systems.
  • Experience applying FMEA and producing structured, traceable test documentation.
  • Ability to interpret and apply UL and IEC construction and testing requirements to circuit designs.
  • Strong soldering and prototype‑build skills.
  • Effective cross‑functional communication and teamwork.

Preferred / Additional Qualifications

  • Experience with EMI/EMC testing and mitigation strategies.
  • Familiarity with thermal testing and I/O characterization.
  • Prior exposure to flame‑scanner or combustion control electronics is a plus.
  • Experience in an engineering lab environment with hands‑on prototype development.
  • Strong documentation skills for design specifications, test plans, and verification reports.
  • Interest in continuous learning and career growth in a larger engineering organization.

Location, Employment Type & Workplace

This is a Contract to Hire position, fully onsite in East Derry, NH. Candidates must be able to work from the client’s East Derry facility as required.


Pay & Benefits

  • Pay range (as provided in the source): $75,000.00 - $100,000.00/hr.
  • Individual offers within this range will depend on qualifications, experience, job knowledge, and other job‑related factors.
