What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Electrical (ASIC/FPGA) Engineer 1 to support ASIC and FPGA development for aerospace & defense systems. This role focuses on RTL implementation, verification support, and system integration working with cross-functional teams.

  • Support requirements capture and define ASIC/FPGA digital architecture
  • Implement RTL designs using VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog
  • Create and run simulations to support verification activities
  • Support integration of ASIC/FPGA implementations into system-level hardware
  • Document designs and follow established engineering processes

What You’ll Learn

This role pairs hands-on work with mentorship from experienced engineers and exposure to defense-grade design processes.

  • Best practices for ASIC/FPGA architecture, RTL design, verification, and integration
  • Application of FPGAs and ASICs in communications, security, and space products
  • Use of vendor tools and modern workflows in a production research environment

Qualifications (Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field completed by start date
  • Experience or coursework in RTL coding and simulation (VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog)
  • Experience may be from coursework, projects, research, or prior on-the-job experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with ASIC/FPGA toolchains (Modelsim, Quartus, Vivado)
  • Programming experience with C, MATLAB, or scripting languages
  • Familiarity with revision control (Git/Subversion) and standard office tools
  • Prior internship or project experience in firmware, FPGA, or ASIC design
  • Strong interest in firmware/embedded design lifecycle

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $57,200 — $108,800 USD (good-faith estimate representative of all experience levels)
  • Relocation eligibility where applicable
  • Hired applicants may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement benefits, paid time off, and other standard U.S. benefits; specific offerings depend on business unit and location
  • Short-term and/or long-term incentive programs may be available depending on role level

Location & Clearance

  • Worksite: Marlborough, MA (onsite)
  • U.S. citizenship is required. The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance (DoD Secret) is required; an active clearance is preferred.
