Role Overview
The Electric System Operator (Distribution Dispatcher) will monitor and control the live operation of the electric distribution system from the Distribution Control Center. Working as part of a high‑performing operations team for a confidential client in the Energy, Oil & Gas industry, you’ll use SCADA and grid telemetry to isolate faults, issue switching orders, coordinate crews, and support safe, reliable restoration during normal operations and emergencies.
What You’ll Do
- Promote and enforce safety and health programs.
- Follow written company and department policies and procedures.
- Operate communications equipment and SCADA/telemetry systems effectively.
- Track crew locations and ongoing work across the distribution system.
- Dispatch service personnel for outages and emergency responses.
- Authorize energizing and restoration of distribution facilities per procedure.
- Maintain accurate outage and equipment condition records.
- Provide clear, timely status updates to operations leadership and stakeholders.
Qualifications
Dist. Dispatcher Associate
- Bachelor’s degree in any field, OR
- Associate degree in electrical or electronic technology, OR
- High school diploma plus 2 years’ technical customer support/service experience (including multitasking across multiple screens/applications).
Dist. Dispatcher
- Education as listed above, PLUS
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Distribution Dispatcher Associate, and successful completion of required training and exam.
Dist. Dispatcher Sr.
- Education as listed above, PLUS
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Distribution Dispatcher, and successful completion of required training and exam.
Preferred skills (all levels)
- Experience with SCADA or distribution telemetry systems.
- Strong decision-making under pressure.
- Clear communication with field crews and contractors.
- Strong multi-tasking and situational awareness.
Requirements & Working Conditions
- Employment types: Full-Time or Contractor.
- Rotating shift work required — 10–12 hour shifts that may change monthly.
- Must maintain high availability for call-outs; ability to work under pressure during critical system conditions.
- Entry-level hires must complete progression milestones: progress to Distribution Dispatcher Associate level within 2 years and Distribution Dispatcher within 4 years (or vacate position).
- Candidates must live within or be willing to relocate to within 45 minutes of the reporting location in Gahanna, OH (700 Morrison Road, Gahanna, OH 43230).
- Pre-employment assessments: recommended HireVue Dispatcher Worker Virtual Job Tryout (untimed, ~45 minutes).
- May require background check and other pre-employment screening as permitted by law.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary ranges by level (base ranges provided by the confidential client):
- Dist. Dispatcher Associate: $63,496 - $79,369 per year
- Dist. Dispatcher: $74,551 - $93,188 per year
- Dist. Dispatcher Sr.: $87,633 - $109,544 per year
Overall compensation range (posted): $63,496 — $109,543 per year.
