What You’ll Do
The Echo Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures (including echocardiography) to help clinicians evaluate and diagnose patients. You will work directly with patients, physicians, and clinical staff in an outpatient primary-care setting focused on senior care.
- Perform diagnostic procedures using 2D imaging, spectral and color flow Doppler, and other ultrasound modalities (echocardiography, vascular, general ultrasound).
- Select appropriate transducers and optimize equipment settings for each exam.
- Explain procedures, obtain patient consent, and address patient concerns with empathy and clear communication.
- Acquire high-quality images and key measurements; enter test data and patient information into electronic records.
- Generate detailed preliminary reports and communicate STAT findings per clinical protocols.
- Assist physicians with ultrasound-guided biopsies and invasive procedures when required.
- Maintain ultrasound equipment per manufacturer and facility guidelines (routine checks and monthly maintenance).
- Follow infection-control protocols and use personal protective equipment as required.
- Travel to other clinic locations as needed (local/regional travel up to 40%).
- Participate in creating and improving SOPs for ultrasound best practices.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited ultrasound technology program.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) required to perform echocardiograms.
- Registration in the specific ultrasound modalities you will perform (e.g., vascular, general) required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within first 90 days.
- Minimum 6 months related experience post internship/externship required; 2+ years preferred.
- Able to lift or assist moving patients and equipment up to 50 pounds; frequent standing, bending, reaching, kneeling.
- Strong customer-service skills, critical thinking, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel locally and regionally up to 40% of the time.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field.
- Prior experience working with older adult or primary-care populations.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range: $31.00 - $44.36 Hourly (base pay). Final compensation depends on experience, location, and other factors.
- This position may be eligible for bonuses or additional pay components per company policy.

Work Environment & Logistics
- Location: Richmond, VA (onsite). Travel between regional clinic locations may be required.
